I simply started a new project importing geometry from scratch, more than just a few times, with it suddenly collapsing the import window after using Ctrl-C and having selected fewer than the 17 desired STLs, an attempted correction of the duplicate issue, then having to start over from scratch. I've done that at least a half-a-dozen times. grrrr!
So I decided to number the STLs, prefixing the file names with appropriate two-digit numbers, e.g. 01_, 02_, 03_, etc., so that I could simply navigate to the appropriate STL folder and then use ctrl-A to select ALL the files in that directory containing only the files I wanted (in the A-Z order from the top object down as I desired for the new project) and hit Enter.
I suspect my hardware is causing most of my problems because I suspect the USB mouse is sending double-clicks intermittently due to the single-click window maximizing behavior it's producing. OR, my USB keyboard's only working ctrl key is showing its age.
Editing the registry as recommended in articles from searches using AI doesn't seem to help, so soon, I'll order a new USB mouse and maybe a new USB keyboard too.

Once I had successfully imported the files, VOILA! the Render View started working.
Not so fast, Dave!
Not so fast, Dave!
Now I see that in Render View some of the files are not showing, namely the files for the bottom half of the model. From the .png image I've attached, you can see only files prefixed by 01_ thru 10_. All the rest, 11_, 12_, 13_, and so on, are missing in the view. I've uploaded the project zip and STL zip to my MS OneDrive for your inspection if you're interested. You'll see a Bitly ad pop-up asking you to continue to destination.
